Students will be more willing to know some information about other countries’ trip.

Students will be more interested in English speaking by activities.

Key Point: comprehend some rules of liaison.

Difficult Point: use these rules to speak English and communicate with others in their daily life.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1: Warming-up

1.Greeting: talk about weather

2.Read tongue twisters:

Ask students to read two tongue twisters on the PPT to practise their tongues:

1). She sells seashells on the seashore, and the shells she sells are seashells.

2).

3.Show them a picture of Sydney Opera House, and ask students “Where is it?”, then ask them “Do you know other interesting places in Australia?”

Step 2: Presentation

1.Ask students to open the book and the teacher reads the passage and ask students the main idea of the passage.

2.Read this article for students, and read some sentences for them twice. Then ask them “which time is better?”. After that, write down the sentences on the blackboard.

3. Make a conclusion of liaison, structure: ①consonant+vowel, ②consonant+e+vowel

Step 3: Practice

Ask students read the article again then invite students come to the front and read for others.

Step4: Production

Activity: Discussion

Give students 5 minutes to discuss “where do they want to go? Why?” with their desk mates and use liaison when they express their opinions. After discussion, they need to share their ideas and reasons.

Step5: Summary and Homework

Summary: ask a student to read the sentences on the blackboard and summarize the rules of liaison.

Homework: Try to find some English poems and read them with liaison.

As for me, I think pronunciation is necessary for senior high school students. Although the students have been learning English for a long time, they may be weak in speaking English sentences because we always focus on spelling of words, function or structure of grammar. Pronunciation is an important part for them to learn how to speak English fluently. If they can master some ways to speak English well, they may be more interested in English learning.

2.What’s the differences between inductive teaching method and deductive teaching method?

【参考答案】

The inductive teaching method means that learners are exposed to some examples before using a specific structure, and then summarize the relevant rules of the structure, which is a process from special to general. The deductive teaching method is to present or explain the rules to students first and then let students do some exercise to help students master the knowledge.
