——人教版初一下册Unit 5 Why do you like pandas?阅读课
现代外语教育注重语言学习的过程,强调语言学习的实践性,主张学生在语境中接触、体验和理解真实语言,并在此基础上学习和运用语言。教师在英语教学过程中应当提供恰当的指导下,通过体验、实践、参与、探究和合作等方式,根据语言学习规律,赋予活动乐趣,让学生在实践中学习,渗透情感态度的培养,帮助学生形成有效的学习策略,发展自主学习能力。本文以人教版初一下册Unit 5 Why do you like pandas?阅读课为例进行教学设计。
Teaching Objectives:
Knowledge objective:
Students can know the basic situation of elephant.
Ability objectives:
Students can get main and detail information from the article through fast reading and careful reading.
Students can make poster according to their understanding of the text and the topic.
Emotional objective:
Students can care about endangered animals and endeavor to protect these animals.

Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warming up
Play a guessing game. Show part of pictures of animals, lion, giraffe, elephant, koalas, panda, tiger. See which group can guess correctly and quickly.
(Justification: Guessing game can guide students to the topic in this lesson. It is also intended to help students review so that students can enhance their memory of words about animals. )
Step 2 Pre-reading
Check students last homework to collect information of animals. Work in group and check the animals in 2a they think are in great danger and how they know it.
(Justification: In this step, students can share their information with group members so that they can deepen the understanding of endangered animals. Also, they can learn to be independent learners.)
Step 3 While-reading
Fast reading: Work on 2b
Tell students to skim the article and decide which might be the best title. Ask students to pay attention to first and last sentence in each paragraph.
A. What’s an elephant?
B. Come to Thailand.
C. Let’s save the elephants.
D. Elephants are good pets.
Careful Reading: Work on 2b
Divide students into 4 groups. Ask students to read the article carefully and complete the mind map. Each group is responsible for one part. After that, ask them to share with each group.
(Justification: Through fast and careful reading, students can learn to know the main idea and detail information of the article. Reading strategies are used while students are reading so that students can master reading skills to further read in the daily life.)
Step 4 Post-reading
Work in group. Ask students to design a poster for the endangered elephant. After that, make a speech about protecting elephants.
(Justification: In this step, students can think deeply about the endangered animals. Their speaking ability can be improved. )
Step 5 Summary and homework
Summary: Invite one student to summarize what we have learned today.
Homework: Color the poster and think of slogan for their work.
